This section provides easy access to selected images that recall memorable encounters of our families in this region. It is not a substitute for a family album or social media.
Many of these images are also found in the Genealogies or Stories of this public site. We offer them here as an alternative entry point for those unfamiliar with the website and with little time to explore it.
Consistent with our Rules of Use , we have tried to protect the safety and privacy of living persons, and especially of minors. The Administrators
Note: This is an initial draft and we are aware that it contains errors and omissions. It is intended to encourage and facilitate verification, correction and collection of missing data by family members
Given their diverse geographic origins and the high mobility and dispersion of these families, we have few data. We will concentrate on the descendants of the marriage of Blanche R. Chadima and Joseph A. Nesbit. The Nesbit, of Scottish origin, were already living in the Midwest of the USA since the end of the 18th century, and possibly before, and we are looking for their documented data.
On the Chadima side, this family is descended from Franz Joseph Chadima (1825-1911), who emigrated in 1856-1857 to Michigan, USA from what is now the Czech Republic
The Chadima surname was lost since his only son, Frank Chadima, had no children. After serving in the American Civil War, Franz J. Chadima was given a government rural settlement plot near Kelso, WA. His genealogy and our interest in this family can be seen here.
From her three marriages, Blanche Rose Chadima leaves behind descendants with the surnames Nesbit, Harmon and Mc Gowan. Five men and five women..
Blanche Chadima; Carolyne, Sylvia Nesbit; Kathleen Hamm, 1950.
Blanche and son
Frances grew up on a rural property near Kelso, Washington State where she met her husband Andrew. Andrew G. Hamm (1912-1976), was born in Alabama and came to work with the Civilian Conservation Corps, a jobs program created during the Great Depression.
The Hamm-Nesbit couple purchased a land parcel East of Kelso, WA and adjacent to Frances´s relatives. After clearing the suitable areas they raised cattle and sold milk.
Lenton Hamm and Wade Hamm followed brother Andrew G. Hamm and settled in Washington State.
Larry, Ed, Alvin Hamm
The contact with the Hamm family of Alabama has endured despite the distance. In 1946, Andrew G. Hamm made a road trip with his family to Alabama.
In 1976 Kathy HN married Vicente MU in Longview, Washington State. The story explaining Vicente’s arrival in the Pacific-Northwest is here. Between 1980 and 1993 they lived in Brazil, Ecuador and Guatemala.
