Genealogy of our “UGARTE”.
Family summary
In 1671 Juan de Ugarte Urrispuroborn in Macaya, Navarra, Spain, traveled to the Spanish kingdom of Chile and became Secretary of War and Government of the kingdom until 1702, shortly before his death. His son Gregorio Ugarte Avaria, his grandson Juan Jerónimo Ugarte Salinas and his great-grandson José Santiago Ugarte Salinas , held important public positions in the Spanish government of the Kingdom and as mayors of the city of Santiago, before Chile achieved its independence in 1810.
In 1851, Pedro Ugarte Ramírez, the judge of Santiago´s Criminal Court, with a high political profile, was exiled to Peru. His grandson is Arturo Ugarte Castro who married in 1887 with Victoria Bϋhler Kowollthe daughter of Johann Georg Bϋhler Boscha young German ex-military immigrant to southern Chile.
The five sons of the Ugarte Bϋhler family had several adventuresand originate the branches with registered male descendants: Ugarte-Aldunate, Ugarte-Elgueta, Ugarte-Vergara . Their two sisters were examples of fortitude and originate the Ulriksen-Ugarte and Molinos-Ugarte branches.
Towards the end of the 20th century, some descendants of these last branches migrate from Chile to the north, creating branches in Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia, the United States and Italy.
